Hey hey seniors and soon-to-be new grads, buckle up, because LinkedIn just dropped the application for their brand new LinkedIn APB “Associate Product Builder” Program — an evolution on what was formerly known as the LinkedIn APM “Associate Product Manager” Program.
According to the website, it is “The first-ever Associate Product Builder (APB) program fuses product, design, and engineering into one powerful role. Join AI-native teams to ship world-class products for 1B+ members and redefine LinkedIn’s future.”
My take — it’s APM with a bit more of a technical/generalist spin with an AI twist. Ideal candidates will probably have a CS or CS+Business background.
Here’s some basic information you should know about the role/program:
Based in San Francisco or Mountain View, CA (Hybrid)
Pay Range: $126,000 to $207,000
Career Track/Grade: IC2/7 (IC = Individual Contributor)
This is what they’re looking for/requirements of the job:
Has shipped real products with real impact
Leverages AI tools to solve meaningful problems
Sweats the details: design, usability, craft
Thrives in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
Is coachable, curious, and ready to help shape the future of work
The application requires:
A 60-second demo of a product you built that people use or have used (website, repo, portfolio, etc).
Answer a few questions about what you built and how you built it using AI tools
No resume. We want your work, not your job history.
Now, obviously this is gonna be a bit different than the APM program, but my guess is, the interviews will probably be similar with a case-style interview round + product/behavioral questions.
Again, this is different than APM, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. BUT, at the very least this should give you an idea of what you’re getting into + what got me to the final round.
In this newsletter edition, you’ll find —
the resume that got me to Round 1 of interviews
the cover letter that got me to Round 1
a full recount of my interview experience (the questions they asked me, the case study interview breakdown)
Other tips:
Apply ASAP, the application closes 9/7 at 11:59PM PST
Don’t wait/worry/stress about a referral — for LinkedIn APMs there were NO referrals allowed and I’m pretty positive they’re gonna keep it the same for APB
