What was your experience leading up to Adobe?
Before I worked at Adobe, I worked at a small marketing agency as an intern in high school. They were meeting with executives every week, and I was learning what kind of problems they dealt with.
I also did a tech consulting internship at Accenture going into my junior year. My client was a major hospital system, and we worked on an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning software) implementation. People, process, and technology are the big things you need to be looking at in terms of change management. I was meeting with clients every day, creating strategy, and listening to their problems.
When I studied abroad in Copenhagen, I interned at OUR SHIFT (a sustainable fashion startup) that made clothing out of tents and other disposed materials. There, I really started to understand global business, and that has really helped me in my job at Adobe because I’ve worked with more global brands—Japan, France—where culture influences business decisions.
How did you find out/learn about the Adobe Digital Strategy Internship?
Honestly, I was just on LinkedIn. When I was in my freshman/sophomore year, I told my mentor that these were my target companies: Apple, Disney, Adobe, Google, and Spotify. I turned on LinkedIn Job Alerts for all of them, and that was super helpful. I saw the Digital Strategy Internship (Adobe) and loved my experience at Accenture, but I wanted to be doing consulting in products where I could get more focused. I also wanted to have some stability to be able to grow in my knowledge.
What did the interview process look like?
I got the email for the interview and thought it was a scam 😂 . There were 3 or 4 rounds of interviews—a mix of behavioral and a take-home case where I had to present a slide deck to a panel. It was a lot of work over the weekend. But I think it’s great that they give you a take-home assignment because it gives you the opportunity to see what it’s like working there; you can use that time & assignment to figure out if you’ll actually like the work and the day-to-day in the role.
Did you have a referral?
No, I didn’t. I’d definitely recommend getting a referral but I did not have a referral when I was applying.
Do you think your GPA mattered at all?
Maybe it does, IDRK 🤷♀️ — because they get a lot of applicants, I think they may use it to narrow down, but they never asked me about it in interview.
What do you think made you stand out in the application process (i.e. what stood out on your resume)?
Having a variety of experiences on my resume—leadership experiences at school (Binghamton Investment Fund, TA'ing a Product Management Class, Dean’s Mentoring Program), Accenture made me stand out, and I tried to tell my story by highlighting my interests on my resume (I talked about singing and sewing). Adobe is such a culture of creativity, so it’s important to highlight creative hobbies and pursuits. Also, if you love the products you’re selling, you’re more likely to do well in the job.
What do you think made you stand out in interviews?
Storytelling ability and being concise in my answers. I’ve now had the opportunity to sit on the other side of the table and interview candidates for the Digital Strategy internship — as an interviewer, if someone doesn’t have clarity of thought and their answers aren’t concise, that’s a bit of a red flag.
Having helped with the hiring process for Digital Strategy Interns, what is a key characteristic you look for in candidates?
Intellectual curiosity—asking a lot of questions, being empowered to do research, going down rabbit holes, and not limiting your scope. Putting your ego aside is important because you’re probably entering a new space you haven’t been in before, but if you’re curious, you can learn anything.
Did you have a lot of product fluency in Adobe products before working at Adobe?
I used Lightroom and Photoshop when I was a kid, but I had no fluency on the B2B side. More specifically, I used those particular tools to scale a small business when I was younger (I shared this in my interview).
💡 Interview Nugget (from Jaiden): It’s important to mention your connection or relationship to the brand. Everyone kind of has a special connection to Adobe, and you need to figure out your story.
How did you approach solving problems in interview, particular the case study interview?
Repeat back to yourself: What is the question they’re asking me? Take a second to think about it. The STAR method is useful. Talk about the experience and what you learned. Don’t be afraid to show some humanity in your answers—it’s good to share responses that are business-related, but it’s also good to show things that aren’t strictly business-related.
The STAR method is a structured way to answer behavioral interview questions—those “Tell me about a time when…” or “Give me an example of…” questions. It helps you stay focused, clear, and concise while still giving enough detail. Here’s the breakdown:
S – Situation: Set the context. Describe the background of the story and what was going on. (Example: “During my internship at Accenture, my client was a hospital system transitioning to a new ERP platform.”)
T – Task: Explain your role and the challenge you were responsible for. (Example: “I was responsible for helping manage part of the change management strategy, specifically documenting workflows and identifying pain points.”)
A – Action: Share the steps you took to handle the task. Focus on what you did, not the team as a whole. (Example: “I interviewed end-users to understand their processes, created flowcharts of current vs. future states, and presented recommendations to my manager and client stakeholders.”)
R – Result: End with the outcome or impact. Quantify it if possible. (Example: “As a result, the client reduced implementation errors by 30% and adopted new workflows more smoothly.”)
What tips would you give for the case study/presentation portion of the interview?
Always state your assumptions and ask clarification questions. If you have a piece of paper, draw out prototypes—get scrappy with it to show visuals. Try to give them a taste of what you could do and what you’re capable of doing, if you had more time.
Okay, let’s say you land the internship. What makes a successful Digital Strategy Intern?
Things that stood out to me (in this last batch of Digital Strategy Interns)—
Going above and beyond what you were asked to do i.e. doing extra research
Coming up with your own thoughts or slides (not just using templates) — I think there’s so much value in original human thought and intellectual curiosity, especially during a time when you can just use AI for things
Make sure to get your name out there—do coffee chats, share your experiences—you’ll have a better chance of being known
Be grateful/thankful for the experience and all the people who helped you. There was one intern who handwrote thank-you notes to everyone — that was super memorable.
What were some fun aspects of the internship program and what do you personally, like about working there?
They flew out all the interns to San Jose for the Adobe Intern Summit, where we met the CEO, asked questions, and interacted with other interns. It felt like I got to be a part of the bigger vision/bigger picture. There were lots of happy hours, socials, and bootcamps for learning. On a different occasion, they even flew the sales interns out to San Jose, just so they could play basketball with the CRO.
As far as the culture goes, it felt like a pretty flat organization—they really try to facilitate connection between everyone. I thought it was a really special company, which is why I ultimately decided to accept my full-time return/conversion offer as a full-time Digital Strategy Analyst!
Where is She Now: Today, Jaiden has helped the product launch of Customer Journey Analytics, strategized with Fortune 500 companies, and developed thought leadership on artificial intelligence.
Thank you SO SO much to Jaiden for sitting down for this interview and un-gatekeeping what it takes to land this role and be successful in it! Make sure to follow her on LinkedIn and TikTok to keep up with her adventures in NYC and at Adobe!
